Pinal County supervisors unanimously denied the Silver King Energy Center, an 8,122-acre solar and gas project near Florence Junction. The vote ends the county's largest proposed energy development.

Silver King Energy Center goes before Pinal County supervisors Feb. 18 after a 4-3 commission denial. The 8,122-acre project includes solar, battery, and gas generation.

Florence granted Bicentel LLC a license to build fiber infrastructure in town rights-of-way as the area prepares for large-scale data center development. The company operates a cross-border fiber network passing through the Phoenix-to-Tucson corridor.

Pinal County planners voted 4-3 to recommend denial of the 8,122-acre Silver King Energy Center. Commissioners questioned economic benefits and mixed-use plans for the $2.9 billion project.

Silver King returns with up to 2 GW of solar, battery, and gas generation. Pinal County commission votes January 15.
