Special Olympics Arizona Kicks Off at Skyline High School

APACHE JUNCTION, Ariz. — The Special Olympics Arizona opening ceremony was held Friday, October 18, at Skyline High School.

Apache Junction Police Chief Pooley participated in the ceremony. The event took place at Skyline High School’s facilities.

Law enforcement plays a significant role in Special Olympics Arizona, with the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) serving as the largest fundraising vehicle for Special Olympics globally. In Arizona, law enforcement agencies raise over one million dollars annually for Special Olympics Arizona, with 95% of donations going directly to support Special Olympics programs and athletes.

Special Olympics Arizona provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The organization serves more than 180,000 Arizonans with intellectual disabilities, working to empower them to be healthy, productive, and respected members of society through year-round sports training, competitions and support programs.
