On April 6, 2025, Eloy Police Department officers responded to the Park Vista Apartments, 401 N. D. Street, after receiving a report of a subject suffering from a gunshot wound. While responding, officers were informed the victim left the scene in a vehicle.

Officers located the vehicle near the intersection of Sunshine Blvd. and Elm Street and conducted a traffic stop, where they discovered a juvenile male with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was transported to a hospital in Phoenix and has since been released.

A preliminary investigation determined the juvenile accidentally shot himself while handling the firearm. Further investigation revealed he was in unlawful possession of the weapon. The Eloy Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit subsequently executed a search warrant at the residence where the incident occurred, recovering multiple firearms and other evidence related to the shooting.

The juvenile has recovered from his injuries and was arrested earlier this week on charges of Weapons Misconduct (Prohibited Possessor) and Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm. He was booked into the Pinal County Juvenile Detention Center.

The juvenile’s mother was also arrested for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, in addition to unrelated misdemeanor warrants. She was booked into the Pinal County Jail.

“This case highlights the dangers of illegal firearm possession and the importance of responsible gun ownership. Their efforts continue to make our neighborhoods safer.”
