FLORENCE, AZ — Town Manager Bruce Walls will retire effective August 1, 2026, closing a career of more than 40 years in public service spanning law enforcement, military service, and municipal administration.
Walls’ background includes 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, where he concluded his military service as a First Sergeant. He went on to a career in law enforcement at the Peoria Police Department, where he left in 2017 as Commander of the North Precinct. He then joined the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office as Assistant Chief of Investigations.
His professional background includes the FBI National Academy, the Northwestern Command School of Leadership, the ASU Certified Public Manager’s Course, and Leadership West, along with a bachelor’s degree in business management and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Walls came to Florence in 2019 as Police Chief. He moved into the Interim Town Manager role on April 2, 2024, and the Town Council unanimously appointed him as Town Manager on September 16, 2024.
During his time as Town Manager, Walls supported the development of the Town Council’s new Strategic Plan, advanced key infrastructure improvements, and helped build a leadership team to carry the organization forward.
“Bruce has been an exceptional leader and a dedicated public servant,” Mayor Keith Eaton said. “He provided continuity during a time of transition and helped set a clear direction for the future.”
The Town Council is scheduled to consider acceptance of Walls’ resignation and direct staff to begin a recruitment process for his successor at its meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:00 p.m.
