Apache Junction, AZ— The Apache Junction Police Department (AJPD) is pleased to announce it has received significant funding from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to enhance its law enforcement capabilities and improve public safety initiatives within the community regarding traffic enforcement.
The grants awarded to AJPD include:
- $59,801.00 for STEP Enforcement Overtime/Capital Outlay: These funds have been allocated towards personnel costs and acquiring three Grappler devices. The STEP (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) initiative aims to reduce traffic-related incidents through targeted enforcement and community outreach efforts.
- $15,000.00 for DUI Enforcement Overtime: This grant supports personnel overtime expenses dedicated to DUI enforcement activities, ensuring heightened vigilance and enforcement during peak times of impaired driving risk.
- $5,000.00 for Occupant Protection: This grant supports personnel overtime expenses dedicated to child safety seat and seat belt enforcement activities.
- $5,000.00 for Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety: This grant supports personnel overtime expenses dedicated to pedestrian and bicycle enforcement activities.
