CASA GRANDE, AZ — Arizona Water Company secured a 100-year assured water supply designation in the Pinal Active Management Area, the first such milestone in more than 20 years. Officials gathered March 4 at Casa Grande City Hall to mark the achievement. The company is only the second utility to qualify under Arizona’s new Alternative Pathway to Designation of Assured Water Supply rules, known as ADAWS — EPCOR received the first such designation in October 2025.

Designation Clears Way for 80,000 New Homes

The designation confirms Arizona Water Company holds sufficient water to serve its entire territory for a century. As a result, it clears the way for construction of more than 80,000 new homes in the region. Governor Katie Hobbs called it a critical step for housing, economic growth, and long-term water protection.

Pinal County Supervisor Stephen Miller credited years of stakeholder negotiations for making the program possible. ADWR Director Tom Buschatzke described ADAWS as part of a broader state strategy to preserve water certainty for Arizona users.
