Pinal County Attorney’s Office Convicts Repetitive DUI Offender

Florence, AZ – Pinal County Attorney’s Office convicts Michael Raymond of Aggravated DUI stemming from a dangerous Christmas morning high speed meth fueled outing on Interstate 10 near Casa Grande that terrified other drivers. Multiple 911 callers reported Defendant Michael Raymond driving recklessly, swerving, and hitting a roadway barrier, before fleeing from the scene in an attempt to get away. DPS Troopers apprehended Raymond who denied driving and drug use, despite having the keys in his pocket and visibly showed signs of meth use. At trial, Pinal County Attorney’s Jessica McAvoy and David Garcia presented witness evidence identifying Raymond as the driver as well as blood evidence proving he drove on methamphetamine. Raymond’s license has been suspended since 2014, and he has multiple prior convictions for DUI.

On March 27, 2025, a Pinal County jury found Raymond Guilty of three counts for Aggravated DUI, all class 4 felonies. Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller congratulated law enforcement and his attorneys on a job well done, adding: “Every year hundreds of innocent lives are lost to Defendants who chose to drive under the influence without any regard to public safety. Defendants like Michael Raymond, who continuously place our community at risk, will be held accountable under my watch.”

Michael Raymond faces a mandatory prison range between 2.25 years to 12 years. The Priors Hearing is scheduled for May 19th in front of Judge Steven Fuller.
