Pinal County officials have announced plans to impose significant fines on those caught illegally dumping trash. The initiative comes in response to ongoing issues with waste accumulation in various parts of the county.

Supervisor Mike Goodman highlighted the severity of the problem during a recent Board of Supervisors meeting. “It’s a big issue and a big problem that we have here in Pinal County,” Goodman stated. “We’re going to start coming down on this stuff. There’s going to be some hefty fines that are going to come out as a result of what you see right here.”

The county has begun implementing surveillance measures to combat the issue. Cameras have been installed at known trouble spots to monitor and identify offenders. In one recent incident, individuals were caught on camera illegally dumping trash and were subsequently cited by the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

To discourage illegal dumping, Pinal County has introduced free garbage disposal services across the county. An official explained, “We as a county began doing cleanups where people can come throughout the county and dump their garbage for free. Even our guys will unload it for them.”

This initiative aims to provide residents with a convenient and cost-free alternative to illegal dumping. The official added, “There’s no need for bringing it [garbage] here or out in the deserts.” For more information see https://www.pinal.gov/1166/Keep-Pinal-Pristine.
