QUEEN CREEK, AZ – A coordinated search and rescue operation in the early hours of Monday morning successfully located and retrieved a missing hiker from the Superstition Mountains.
The Superstition Mountains are a popular hiking destination east of the Phoenix metropolitan area.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) Search and Rescue Posse was dispatched at 12:04 AM to locate a missing hiker on the Ridgeline Trail of the Superstition Mountains. With assistance from the Department of Public Safety (DPS), two teams were inserted along the ridgeline to begin the search operation.
Rescuers successfully located the hiker, who was found safe and uninjured. The individual was then airlifted to the command post without incident. Officials credited teamwork and coordination for the successful outcome.
Following the rescue, the PCSO reminded all hikers about the importance of preparation when venturing into wilderness areas. They emphasized bringing plenty of water and snacks, carrying a headlamp or flashlight, and packing a portable battery charger to prevent phone failure during emergencies.
