MARICOPA, AZ — Robert Klob was elected chairman of the Maricopa Planning and Zoning Commission on March 9, 2026, following the departure of former Chairman James Singleton.

Singleton announced his departure at the February 9 meeting. He is running for city council and said the campaign’s scheduling conflicts prevented him from continuing.

Klob, who had been serving as vice chair, was nominated and voted in unanimously. Robert Brems was then nominated for vice chair and also approved unanimously.

Klob also serves as chairman of the Pinal County Planning and Zoning Commission, a position he assumed in February 2026 after Chairman Morris Mennenga resigned due to a serious arm injury requiring additional surgery. Both elections took effect immediately.
