A teenage motorcyclist lost control in desert sand while fleeing an Arizona State Trooper on Interstate 10 near Casa Grande. The 16-year-old rider sustained minor injuries after the incident on November 26, 2025.
High-Speed Attempt to Evade Police Ends in Desert
The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that a Highway Patrol trooper attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling approximately 90 mph westbound on I-10. This occurred near the AZ-84 interchange. However, the rider refused to stop and fled the scene.
The trooper did not call a pursuit due to heavy holiday traffic. Instead, he maintained visual contact with the fleeing motorcycle. No patrol vehicles activated their front emergency lights during this time.
Sand Causes Rider to Lose Control
The motorcyclist exited I-10 at Toltec Road. He then drove off the paved portion of the off-ramp. As a result, soft sand adjacent to the roadway caused him to lose control and dismount his vehicle.
The teen sustained minor injuries, including road rash. He was subsequently transported to Banner Casa Grande for medical evaluation.
Teen Faces Criminal Citation
Authorities criminally cited the 16-year-old for Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement.
The Arizona DPS Highway Patrol reminded motorists that emergency lights require all drivers to move over, not just those being pulled over.
