Casa Grande, AZ – The City Attorney’s Office Victim Services Program, in partnership with the Casa Grande Elementary School District, will host the annual Children’s Flower Garden Event on Wednesday, November 5, at 10:00 a.m. at the City Hall Plaza flower garden, 510 E. Florence Blvd.
The event honors children who have been victims of abuse and raises awareness about protecting vulnerable youth. Each year, students plant flowers as a symbol of hope and healing.
“Gardening teaches children the importance of nurturing living things while helping them express emotions in a healthy way,” said Terry Montijo, Victim Services Coordinator.
Child abuse remains a serious issue nationwide. According to the National Children’s Alliance, more than 550,000 children are abused each year, and nearly half of all fatalities involve children under one year old. In 2024, 370,000 children experiencing abuse received help and support from Children’s Advocacy Centers across the US. Events like this remind the community of its role in prevention and support.
This year’s event, sponsored by Artistic Land Management, Inc., features students from Desert Willow Elementary School, McCartney Ranch Elementary School, Mesquite Elementary School, and Casa Grande Middle School. Vista Grande High School Student Athletic/Activity Advisory Committee (SAAC) will also be joining us this year.
Special performances will be given by the Casa Grande Union High School Cougar Spiritline and Casa Grande Union High School Trumpet Solo and Sax Trio. Against Abuse, Inc., the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Sun Corridor, and the Casa Grande Fire Department will also participate with activities and educational resources.
