The Pinal County Recorder’s Office announced it will mail 90-day notices to Active Early Voters in preparation for the upcoming special election in Congressional District 7. The election was called following the death of Representative Raul Grijalva on March 13, 2025, and will be held to fill his seat.
Recipients of the 90-day notices are asked to verify their information. If any information has changed, voters should follow the directions on the notice and remember to sign before returning it. Additionally, if a notice is received for someone no longer at the address listed, residents should mark through the address and return the entire notice to the post office. This process helps keep the voter rolls in tip-top shape, according to the county announcement.
Voters with questions about the notices or the upcoming special election can call 520-509-3555.
The county also noted that voters listed as “party not designated,” independent, or “other” may select either a Republican or Democratic partisan style ballot, as these parties participate in open primaries.
As reported previously by the Pinal Post, County Recorder Dana Lewis presented details of the special election during the March 19, 2025 Board of Supervisors meeting. Governor Katie Hobbs has scheduled the primary election for July 15, 2025, and the general election for September 23, 2025.
At the March meeting Lewis reported that the special election will affect approximately 4,337 voters across four precincts in Pinal County, out of approximately 311,000 voters in the county. Of those affected voters, 2,457 are expected to receive ballots by mail. Despite the limited scope, Lewis assured that her department “still pulls up all the stops and we go full throttle on any type of an election.”
The election will involve four Pinal County precincts: Precinct 38 (Casa Grande Southwest), Precinct 53 (Chui Chu), Precinct 67 (Hidden Valley), and Precinct 91 (Silverbell). Polling locations will be established at Calvary Chapel, Central Lutheran Church, Chui Chu Elder Center, and the Hidden Valley Public Workyards according to Lewis.
Key dates for the special election include:
