Officer Involved Shooting Under Investigation

Apache Junction, AZ — On Saturday, February 14, 2026 at approximately 7:30 pm, the Apache Junction Police Department (AJPD) were involved in an officer-involved shooting near Shiprock St. and Main Dr.
Officers initially responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance involving a female yelling. The caller reported that the female left the residence in a vehicle with an adult male and returned a short time later. Officers located the vehicle matching the description provided at the residence and made contact with an armed adult male. During the contact, an officer-involved shooting occurred.
Officers involved in the incident were not injured. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
This is still an active and ongoing investigation. In accordance with standard protocol, the officer-involved shooting is being handled by City of Mesa Police Department as part of the East Valley Critical Incident Response Team (EVCIRT).
