News Source: Casa Grande Police Department
The Casa Grande Police Department is actively investigating two recent incidents connected to a nationwide crime trend known as “jugging”. Additionally, in 2023, suspects in this type of case were identified and apprehended. While the incidents from 2023 were resolved, we want our community to be informed and aware of this current and ongoing trend.
What is Jugging? – Jugging occurs when suspects watch banks, ATMs, or check-cashing locations and then follow individuals who have just withdrawn money. The theft typically happens later — often through vehicle burglary — once the victim stops at another location.
What to be aware of:
- Vehicles without license plates
- Vehicles that appear to be following you after leaving a bank or ATM
- Occupants wearing all black clothing
- Face coverings or ski masks used in warm weather or in unusual circumstances
If you believe you are being followed:
Do not drive home. Call 9-1-1 immediately and go to a well-lit, populated area or directly to the Casa Grande Police Department. Trust your instincts — if something feels off, it probably is.
We take crimes like this seriously and are committed to being proactive, not reactive. A few simple precautions — staying alert, limiting distractions, and being aware of your surroundings — can significantly reduce the risk of becoming a victim.
