Gold Canyon House Fire
News Source: Superstition Fire & Medical District
At approximately 6:32 p.m., crews from Superstition Fire & Medical District were dispatched to a reported house fire in Gold Canyon. Due to the severity of the incident, the call was quickly upgraded to a first-alarm fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire involvement, with fire extending into the second story of the home. Crews were able to conduct a primary search of both the first and second floors, confirming the residence was all clear.
Due to unsafe interior conditions, including heavy fire involvement and concerns for hidden fire and structural instability, the decision was made to transition to a defensive fire attack. Approximately 60 seconds after crews were pulled back, a partial roof and wall collapse occurred. No firefighters were injured.
Fire crews remained on scene actively battling the fire until approximately midnight, followed by fire watch operations through 7:00 a.m. Crews were successful in preventing any extension to neighboring homes or surrounding brush.
One patient was evaluated on scene but refused transport. No firefighter injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Superstition Fire & Medical District would like to thank our mutual aid partners from Mesa Fire & Medical Department and Queen Creek Fire & Medical Department for their outstanding teamwork and support during this incident.
