The Eloy Police Department is proud to announce that it has been awarded grant funding from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) to support traffic safety, impaired driving prevention, and accident investigation efforts within the community.

These grants will enhance public safety by allowing officers to conduct targeted enforcement details and utilize updated equipment to better serve Eloy residents.

Awarded Grant Funding Includes:

  • $5,250 – DUI / Impaired Driving Enforcement
Funding will support officer overtime dedicated to DUI patrols and impaired-driving enforcement, helping reduce impaired-related crashes and keep our roadways safer.
  • $6,358 – STEP (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program)
This grant provides overtime funding for speeding and traffic violation enforcement, as well as the purchase of new radar units to assist officers in identifying dangerous driving behavior.
  • $8,500 – Accident Investigation
Funding includes overtime for collision-investigation details and the purchase of critical safety and investigation equipment.

Chief Banales expressed his appreciation for the continued partnership with GOHS, stating:

“These grants give our officers the tools and support necessary to make Eloy’s streets safer for everyone. We are grateful for GOHS’s investment in our community and our mission to protect lives.”

The Eloy Police Department will implement these programs throughout the year, focusing on reducing serious and fatal collisions, improving driver behavior, and enhancing traffic safety across the city.
