A joint operation between the Gila River Police Department and federal authorities has resulted in a significant drug seizure and multiple arrests on tribal land.

On Wednesday, April 2, the Gila River Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit, working alongside the Bureau of Indian Affairs, completed a two-day drug investigation that yielded approximately 50,000 fentanyl pills with an estimated street value of $25,000.

Authorities also confiscated 12.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine during the operation.

Two non-tribal individuals were arrested in connection with the investigation and are now facing criminal charges through the Attorney General’s Office.

Law enforcement officials stated that the operation successfully prevented these dangerous substances from being distributed within the Gila River Indian Community.

The Gila River Police Department emphasized their ongoing commitment to protecting the community from illegal drugs and those who traffic them, noting that the safety and well-being of community members remains their highest priority.
