Starting January 1, 2025, Arizona will require off-highway vehicle (OHV) owners to complete a safety course before registering or renewing their vehicles. This requirement affects dirt bikes, ATVs, and snowmobiles.
The Arizona Game & Fish Department created the free course. It includes a 10-minute video and 20 multiple-choice questions about safe vehicle operation.
Vehicle owners must complete the course once between January 1, 2025, and June 1, 2027. Arizona residents can take the course at AZMVDNOW.gov or at any Motor Vehicle Division (MVD) office. Non-residents should use AZGFD.gov.
For Arizona residents, AZMVDNOW.gov offers a one-stop solution. Users can complete both the safety course and vehicle registration on the same platform. Over 2,250 people have already finished the course.
After completing the course and registration, owners will receive a 2025 decal. This decal shows law enforcement that the vehicle is properly registered and the owner completed the safety requirement.
Business owners with registered OHVs must also comply. A business representative needs to complete the course through the company’s AZ MVD Now account.
