The United Maricopa/Pinal County Firefighters union, IAFF Local 3878, strongly supports the effort to incorporate San Tan Valley.

IAFF Local 3878 members are employed by the Rural Metro Fire Department, which has served Arizona residents since 1948. The department has been present in unincorporated Pinal County since 1959, with a dedicated presence in San Tan Valley since the early 2000s.

As a union, we support the idea of citizens having more control over decisions for their public safety, and we believe incorporation into a town gives San Tan Valley residents that power.

Based on conversations with Rural Metro management, the union believes the department is prepared to negotiate a service contract with the future Town of San Tan Valley – an agreement that could significantly reduce, or even eliminate, the need for individual subscription fees.

Through collaboration with local leadership, we can create a more unified and efficient approach to public safety, ensuring all residents have access to consistent, high-quality emergency services.

Further, we are proposing methods to accelerate the formation of the potential town’s own fire department, which could happen on a much, much faster timeline than has historically been the case in surrounding municipalities.

Your San Tan Valley firefighters believe in the incorporation effort and the chance to have a serious commitment to fire protection in San Tan Valley.

Please vote “Yes” on Prop. 495.
