Casa Grande, AZ – The Casa Grande Police Department successfully conducted Operation Wheels of Fire on March 28th and 29th, 2025, targeting DUI-related incidents, reckless driving, and other traffic-related crimes in the northern part of the city. This high-activity area was identified through recent data analysis as a priority for enforcement.
This operation utilized advanced drone technology, providing officers with real-time aerial surveillance to enhance safety, track fleeing suspects, and monitor roadways more effectively. The integration of drone support significantly improved our ability to respond swiftly and strategically. Additional support was provided by the Coolidge Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
During the two-day detail, officers conducted 137 traffic stops, resulting in 23 arrests, including:
- 2 Aggravated DUI arrests
- 2 Misdemeanor DUI arrests
- 1 DUI (Drugs) arrest
- 1 Reckless Driving arrest
- 7 Criminal Speed citations
- 21 Civil Violations
Two drivers attempted to flee from traffic stops but were successfully located and apprehended using drone surveillance and aerial support from the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office helicopter. Charges of unlawful flight from law enforcement will be submitted. Additional arrests included open container violations, active warrant apprehensions, and other criminal traffic offenses.
