APACHE JUNCTION, AZ — Apache Junction police responded to an apparent self-inflicted shooting at the Walmart on West Apache Trail on March 19 just before 1:00 p.m. Officers found an adult male inside a family restroom with a gunshot wound. The Apache Junction Walmart shooting appears to be an isolated, self-inflicted incident, with no ongoing threat to the public.
Officers initially arrived for a welfare check at the store. Upon locating the injured man, they immediately administered first aid. He was subsequently transported to a hospital, where his condition remains unknown.
Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public. However, officers initially maintained an increased presence while assessing the scene and ensuring the safety of everyone in the area.
