CASA GRANDE, AZ – At approximately 1:16 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2025, the Casa Grande Fire Department responded to reports of a small aircraft experiencing engine failure while in flight between Tucson and Phoenix. The pilot attempted to make an emergency landing near the Casa Grande Municipal Airport.
Fire Department units arrived on scene within minutes and located the aircraft overturned just outside the airport boundary. The aircraft, identified as a small single-engine plane was found upside down with no visible smoke or fire.
Firefighters and airport personnel worked together to access the crash site and assist the pilot, who was found conscious and alert. The pilot was able to exit the aircraft on his own with assistance from Casa Grande fire personnel. The pilot was transported by the Casa Grande Fire Department to Banner Casa Grande Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no additional passengers or injuries reported.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified and will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
