FLORENCE, AZ — The developer behind what would have been Pinal County’s largest solar and battery farm has withdrawn its application. Officials confirmed the withdrawal at the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on October 16.

Planning Manager Harvey Krauss informed commissioners that Silver King Solar LLC submitted a withdrawal letter on October 14. The letter withdrew their comprehensive plan amendment application (PZ-PA-010-25). The commission took no action on the matter as none was required.

“We received a letter a day or so ago, October 14th, that they are withdrawing their application,” Krauss told Chairman Morris Mennenga during the meeting. “So there’s no need for the commission to take any action on that particular item.”

What Was Proposed

Silver King Solar LLC, a subsidiary of Arevia Power LLC, had sought to develop a solar and battery storage facility on 12,915 acres of Arizona State Trust Lands. The site is located southwest of Florence Junction, west of the intersection of State Highways 60 and 79. The project would have generated up to 1,100 megawatts of solar power and included an up-to-1,100 MW battery storage capacity system.

The Planning and Zoning Commission held a work session on July 17 to discuss the project, which Pinal Post covered in detail.

What Happens Next

With the application withdrawn, the 12,915 acres of Arizona State Trust Lands will remain designated as Moderate Low Density Residential. No further county action is required.

The developer did not provide a public explanation for the withdrawal. It remains unclear whether the project could be resubmitted in a revised form in the future.
