In a unanimous decision, the Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved a proclamation declaring September as Arizona Preparedness Month. The move aims to raise awareness about emergency preparedness among county residents.

Kore Redden, Deputy Director of Public Health and Emergency Manager for the Office of Emergency Management, presented the proclamation to the board. “For the State of Arizona, September is recognized as Emergency Preparedness Month, so we have a county proclamation for your consideration and approval,” Redden stated. The proclamation highlights the importance of being prepared for various emergencies, including extreme weather, public health crises, and human-caused incidents. It encourages residents to follow four key steps of emergency preparedness:

  1. Develop a family communication plan
  2. Build an emergency go-kit
  3. Learn about potential hazards in their area
  4. Inspire others through their preparedness example

Additionally, the proclamation promotes the “Ready, Set, Go” evacuation protocol, urging residents to be prepared, stay aware of potential dangers, and evacuate immediately when necessary.

Chairman Goodman emphasized the significance of the proclamation by having it read aloud and arranging for a commemorative photograph with the board members.
