Second Fatal Skydiving Incident in 10 Days Rocks Eloy

ELOY, AZ – A skydiving tragedy has struck Eloy once again, marking the second fatal jump in just ten days.

On February 1, 46-year-old Shawn Bowen of Gilbert, Arizona, lost his life when his wing suit jump ended in tragedy. According to EPD reports, Bowen jumped at approximately 11:40 am, but his parachute failed to deploy during the free fall. Officers responding to the area of Hanna and Tweedy Road found Bowen deceased from injuries sustained during the hard landing.

This latest incident comes on the heels of another fatal accident at Skydive Arizona, located at 4900 N. Taylor Street in Eloy, on January 24. In that incident, 55-year-old Ann Wick from Minnesota experienced complications during her descent at approximately 4:06 PM. Despite immediate life-saving measures initiated by emergency responders, Wick was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both incidents are under active investigation, with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) involved in both cases. The Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office has responded to the February 1 incident, and an autopsy is scheduled for later this week.
