Maricopa, AZ – The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) has notified the City of Maricopa it will be closing the Contracted Postal Unit (CPU) inside the Maricopa Library & Cultural Center at the end of the day on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
The notice from the USPS came with no additional explanation. Several other CPUs across the country received similar notices.
We’ve been working closely with our local USPS contacts in an effort to keep the service in place and are advocating with our congressional delegation to see what possibilities may be available. We know how valuable the CPU has been for residents. Unfortunately, despite our efforts, we’ve been unsuccessful in reversing the decision.
We’re preparing for the CPU’s closure and working to relocate the impacted staff to other roles within the City organization where possible.
While we understand this change may be an inconvenience, we want to remind residents that postal services remain available at Maricopa’s main post office, located at:
44920 W Hathaway Ave, Maricopa, AZ 85139
If the USPS reverses its decision, we will notify the community accordingly.
