Pinal County’s Board of Supervisors approved a property tax rate of $3.45 per $100 of valuation for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, continuing a trend of decreases over the past four years. However, the county still maintains the 4th highest property tax rate in Arizona.
Angeline Woods, Office of Budget and Finance Director, presented the tax information to the Board, highlighting both positive trends and ongoing challenges:
“You all started your four-year term with a property tax rate of $3.75. This year, the property tax rate that you’ve adopted or will be adopting is $3.45. That is a total of 30 cents decrease and quite an achievement,” Woods stated.
“The property assessed value increased 4.9% between fiscal year 2023-2024 and 8% between 2024-2025,” said Woods. “In terms of property valuations, property taxes have decreased 30-cents per hundred dollars of property value since 2020.”
Woods also noted that Pinal County’s property tax rate is currently at 64.5% of the maximum allowable rate, meaning the county could have taxed residents an additional $71 million but chose not to.
In terms of amount paid, the average property tax in Arizona is $251 per person while Pinal County taxes at $278 per person.
Despite the higher than average property tax rates the county is taking steps to lower property tax rates for residents.
