I-8 Semi-Truck Crash Causes Major Delay
A semi-truck crash on I-8 near Maricopa blocked eastbound traffic for four and a half hours on December 17, 2025. The single-vehicle collision occurred just after 5 p.m. The commercial motor vehicle driver stated sun glare blinded him. He then reached up to grab the sun visor while driving. As a result, he veered left into the dirt median. His truck continued through the median and entered eastbound traffic. It then jack-knifed and came to rest across all eastbound lanes.
Driver Cited for Unsafe Speed
Authorities cited the driver for speed not reasonable and prudent. The crash took four and a half hours to clear from the roadway.
Safety Reminder for Drivers
In response to this I-8 collision near Maricopa, officials urged drivers to keep both hands on the wheel and eyes on the road at all times. They also reminded motorists to pull over to a safe location before adjusting sun visors, mirrors, or other controls.
