The Town of Florence sent drinking water lead notices in December 2025 to households where the utility cannot confirm their service line material—the pipe connecting the water main to the home. Receiving a notice does not confirm the presence of lead.

The notice is part of federal requirements under the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR). The rule required utilities to submit a service line inventory by October 16, 2024, then notify affected households initially and annually when materials are lead, galvanized lines requiring replacement, or unknown.
Other utilities have sent similar notices, including Park Water Company, which notified customers in Pinal County on December 31, 2025.
Resources for Residents
The notice recommends that recipients take precautions because the material is unknown. It also encourages property owners to share this information with anyone who consumes food or drinks prepared using water at their address.
For water testing, the town recommends purchasing the “Just Lead” kit from its partner, 120Water, at https://shop.120wateraudit.com/collections/all.
Parents concerned about potential exposure may wish to speak with a healthcare provider about whether blood testing is needed to check their child’s lead level.
For more information about lead exposure and service line identification, the notice directs residents to the EPA at http://www.epa.gov/lead and https://www.epa.gov/ground-water-and-drinking-water/protect-your-tap-quick-check-lead.
