Maricopa residents are invited to join us for Water Safety Day on Saturday, July 26 from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Copper Sky Aquatics Center, held in conjunction with National Drowning Prevention Day.
Hosted by the Maricopa Fire/Medical Department, Maricopa Police Department, and the Maricopa Water Safety Coalition, the event is designed to raise awareness, educate families, and provide lifesaving tools to the community.
The event’s highlight will be a realistic live drowning response drill at the pool, simulating an emergency rescue scenario involving lifeguards, police officers, and fire crews.
The simulation is also planned to include a Banner Air helicopter landing on the Copper Sky Great Lawn to simulate an air evacuation. This is a dramatization and training exercise, and the public is encouraged to attend and observe.
Activities include:
Partners for this year’s event include the BeAwesome Youth Coalition, Exceptional Community Hospital, Boys and Girls Club of the Sun Corridor, and Global Water Resources.
Copper Sky Aquatic Center open swim entry fees apply: free for Copper Sky Members, $2 for kids, and $4 for adults. No pre-registration is required.
