CASA GRANDE, AZ. — The City of Casa Grande is proud to announce the grand opening of Fire Station 503, a state-of-the-art facility that will enhance fire and emergency services for the community. The celebration is scheduled for Thursday, April 24 at 9:30 a.m., at the station’s new permanent home on the northwest corner of Pinal Avenue and Rodeo Road.
The new $12.7 million, 14,000-square-foot station marks a significant milestone for Casa Grande Fire Department, which has operated from temporary facilities since the closure of the original Station 503 in 2020. This modern, single-story facility is designed to support the needs of a growing city, while prioritizing firefighter safety, training, and response times.
The new station includes four full apparatus bays and a designated ambulance bay. It accommodates 10 firefighters and features a biohazard room, training room, large kitchen, fitness area, and secure parking. The design reflects the city’s commitment to innovation, efficiency, and long-term public safety infrastructure.
Many partners played a vital role in the success of this project. Several local contractors contributed their expertise, while Salt River Project (SRP) generously donated $50,000 to fund the public relations electronic billboard located at the corner of the property. Additionally, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation awarded a grant that enabled the purchase of a side-by-side utility vehicle from Iron City Polaris. This grant is one of 123 awarded by the Foundation during its most recent cycle, providing over $2.8 million in critical, life-saving equipment to public safety organizations across the U.S.
The Casa Grande Fire Department also received a $127,000 Prop 202 grant from the Gila River Indian Community to install Solo Rescue Decon Washers at Fire Station 503 and two existing stations. These state-of-the-art machines are designed to thoroughly clean personal protective equipment, helping reduce firefighters’ exposure to harmful contaminants. The Prop 202 grant program supports public safety and community health across Arizona.
“This station is more than just bricks and mortar—it stands as a testament to our dedication to protecting the safety and wellbeing of our community and our Firefighters,” said Fire Chief Dave Kean. “Station 503 will be a cornerstone of our department’s future, enhancing our ability to respond swiftly and effectively citywide.” The many partnerships that brought this facility to life demonstrate the power of collaboration in building safer, stronger communities.
The grand opening event will include a full ceremonial program featuring bagpipers, Presentation of Colors by the Casa Grande Fire Department Color Guard, the Hose Uncoupling, a Dedication and Blessing of the Station, and the traditional Push-In Ceremony of Engine 503. Guest speakers will include Mayor Lisa Fitzgibbons and Fire Chief Dave Kean.
Following the ceremony, the public is invited to tour the new station during an Open House. Complimentary food will be provided by Firehouse Subs and The Big House.
