News Source: Casa Grande Police Department
Over the past several days, the Casa Grande Police Department has received multiple reports of a phone scam targeting members of our community.
In these cases, the caller falsely identifies themselves as a Casa Grande Police Department employee—sometimes even using the real names of our staff. They claim the person has missed a court date, has an outstanding warrant, or owes a fine. The scammer then demands payment through apps such as Zelle or Venmo and even threatens arrest unless money is sent immediately.
Let us be absolutely clear:
The Casa Grande Police Department will never call you to collect money.
No legitimate law enforcement agency or court will ever demand payment over the phone, especially through money transfer apps.
Thankfully, the residents who reported these incidents recognized them as scams and did not send payment.
If you receive one of these calls:
Do not provide personal information.
Do not send money.
Hang up and report the incident to us right away.
To report a scam call, please contact the Casa Grande Police Department at our non-emergency line: (520) 421-8700, option #7.
Together, we can protect each other and stop these scammers from preying on our community. Please share this information with family, friends, and neighbors so no one becomes a victim.
