The City of Apache Junction is proud to announce that it has officially received DarkSky designation for the outdoor sports lighting at Prospector Park and Superstition Shadows Park through DarkSky International.
This designation means our lighting meets strict standards designed to reduce light pollution, protect our desert night sky, and allow residents and visitors to enjoy clearer, more breathtaking views of the stars.

As our community continues to grow, Apache Junction remains dedicated to preserving our natural landscapes. Looking ahead, all future parks, fields, and public spaces will be built with DarkSky-friendly lighting, setting a new standard for sustainable growth.
The city is also working toward becoming an Urban Dark Sky Place, beginning with upgrades to lighting around the City Hall campus to meet DarkSky compliance standards.
