Apache Junction Animal Control has been temporarily relocated while major repairs and construction are completed at our main facility.
After several months of treatment efforts to address persistent rodent issues — including traps, sealing work, and non-toxic solutions — it’s clear that more extensive work is needed. This will involve removing walls, intensive extermination, and eventual reconstruction. The facility is currently closed to the public, and staff are operating from a satellite location available by appointment only.
We anticipate reopening in August, but will continue to provide timeline updates as the full scope of damage is assessed and treated, as we are committed to doing this the right way to prioritize the health and safety of both animals and staff.
Please note the following service changes during this period:
- No animal intakes unless it is an emergency involving serious injury or a public safety concern.
- Stray pickups and owner surrenders are paused until further notice.
- Adoptions are currently on hold. Fortunately, we were able to place our remaining animals in homes before the relocation. We’ll continue to share any animals in need of adoption as we move through this process.
- Licensing services are available by appointment only.
We understand that shelters throughout the Valley are facing capacity challenges, and we recognize the difficulties this can pose for pet owners and community members. To make an appointment or if you have a question about a specific situation, please don’t hesitate to call or email us. We’ll do our best to assist on a case-by-case basis or connect you with other available resources.
