DESCRIPTION:Maricopa residents are invited to join us for Water Safety Day on Saturday\, July 26 from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. at the Copper Sky Aquatics Center\, held in conjunction with National Drowning Prevention Day. \n\n\n\nHosted by the Maricopa Fire/Medical Department\, Maricopa Police Department\, and the Maricopa Water Safety Coalition\, the event is designed to raise awareness\, educate families\, and provide lifesaving tools to the community. \n\n\n\nThe event’s highlight will be a realistic live drowning response drill at the pool\, simulating an emergency rescue scenario involving lifeguards\, police officers\, and fire crews. \n\n\n\nThe simulation is also planned to include a Banner Air helicopter landing on the Copper Sky Great Lawn to simulate an air evacuation. This is a dramatization and training exercise\, and the public is encouraged to attend and observe. \n\n\n\nActivities include: \n\n\n\n\nHands-only CPR lessons\n\n\n\nEducational and interactive booths on water safety\, health\, emergency preparedness\, and conservation\n\n\n\nSafety signage and demonstrations around the pool\n\n\n\n\nPartners for this year’s event include the BeAwesome Youth Coalition\, Exceptional Community Hospital\, Boys and Girls Club of the Sun Corridor\, and Global Water Resources. \n\n\n\nCopper Sky Aquatic Center open swim entry fees apply: free for Copper Sky Members\, $2 for kids\, and $4 for adults. No pre-registration is required. \n\n\n\nFor more water safety tips\, click here.

On this sunrise hike\, learn about our unique collection plants\, Sonoran Desert ecology\, and meet our resident Sonoran Desert Tortoises. Be sure to wear closed-toe shoes\, sun protective clothing\, and bring plenty of water. \n\n\n\nSign up for this free hike at the admissions booth on the day of the walk. Sunrise Hikes are first-come\, first-served and limited to 15 guests. Reservations are NOT accepted. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring/wear: Close-toed shoes\, plenty of water (minimum of 32oz)\, clothing comfortable for warm weather\, hat\, sunscreen\, and snacks (if needed). Our gift shop will be open to purchase water bottles and snacks. \n\n\n\nDistance: Approximately 1 mile \n\n\n\nDuration: 1 hour \n\n\n\nType: Out and back \n\n\n\nTrail conditions: Mostly flat\, hard packed dirt with small portions of sand and cobblestone. Our trails are not leveled and contain uneven terrain\, humps\, and dips. DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with the Town of Superior gov\, and Rebuild Superior Inc. \n\n\n\nThis event will take place August 23rd\, 2025\, from 7AM to 9PM in Superior\, Arizona. \n\n\n\nThis vibrant event\, which originated from our friends at the Boyce Thompson Arboretum\, has evolved into a celebration of food education\, plant medicine\, urban gardening\, homeopathy\, sustainability\, conservation\, activism\, and overall healthy lifestyle\, with the beloved Prickly Pear fruit as the inspiration for the event. \n\n\n\nThe festival kicks off on Saturday morning with a Prickly Pear Forging session at 7:00am at the Superior Municipal Airport. Followed by a pancake breakfast hosted by our local Fire Department\, with prickly pear syrup from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at the Superior Senior Center\, located at 360 W Main Street. \n\n\n\nThroughout the day\, the Prickly Pear Festival will offer a wide array of engaging activities\, including retail and food vendors to set up at 9AM\, guest speakers and demos at the Superior Chamber of Commerce office located at 165 W Main Street from 9AM to 5PM\, information booths\, Arts\, and our local restaurants will be serving Prickly Pear or desert related items on their menu!
